GKR seized a unique opportunity to supply scaffolding to the tallest building ever to have been built in the EU. Standing at a mere 1,016ft, GKR have erected a huge range of versatile scaffolds ranging from basic scaffold designs to intricate diverse cantilevers at a knee shaking 600ft plus. GKR have been a continued presence since the project began. To be able to facilitate this project GKR had to re design the thought process going into scaffolding at The Shard. GKR have developed and championed the latest equipment on the market in tethered tools and materials, pushed the entire site into the use of Petzl professional climbing hard hats and won health and safety awards continuously throughout our involvement in this fantastic project.
Stef Bober GKR’s Shard Project Manager commented “Managing some of the finest, most professional scaffolders I have had the pleasure of working alongside has made this experience even more enjoyable for me. Working in close contact with Lee Rowswell we have built up a working relationship with Mace that can only be admired.”
