GKR Scaffolding was awarded this part demolition and refurbishment of the Russell Chambers building in January 2012 by Knight Harwood limited. The majority of the facade fronting 13-14 Great Castle Street is being retained with a new extension to the rear together with the exiting structure being refurbished into Retail, Residential and Office space.
Full design was carried out for the external scaffolds which have had a flush frame erected and designed sheeting fitted to represent the existing building providing a screen to protect the public and hide the building works. Further scaffolding erected includes a 26m long bridged protection deck, 18m Gantry to Russell Street, Hoist tower, Support Structure for a 200kg lifting beam and Temporary Roofs for roof alterations along with many other internal works.
