Safety Contractor 2011 Awarded by Knight Harwood Limited
Erecting scaffold structures in urbanised areas is undoubtedly
among the most challenging construction activities projects face.
Due to GKR's increasingly positive attitude to safety issues and
the implementation of best practice / initiatives such as tethered
tools they were assessed as Knight Harwoods safe contractor of the year for
2011. The certificate was awarded by Tim Whittaker during the
Construction Health & Safety Groups annual dinner and
presentations evening.
NASC Health & Safety Award 2011 for 101+ Employees
GKR Scaffolding have been awarded the
presigious NASC Health & Safety Award
2011 for 100+ employees.
The Award was presented at the NASC Annual AGM and
Ball which was held in Glasgow on 18th November 2011.
GKR flew the management team to Glasgow for the
event together with its Directors Lee and Neil Rowswell.
GKR have introduced a new standard in Health
& Safety with the introduction of a New PPE Standard.

City of London GOLD AWARD 2011
GKR Scaffolding have been
awarded the Considerate Contractor Scheme Gold Award for the 2nd
Year running. The Considerate Contractor Scheme, pioneered by the
City of London in 1987, aims to encourage building and civil
engineering contractors working in the City to carry out their
operations in a safe and considerate manner, with due regard to
passing pedestrians and road users. GKR pride themselves with their
high standards of workmanship, logistic planning and Quality
control.
The 2011 Award was won for our safe works at the 1 Threadneedle
St site with ISG
City of London GOLD AWARD 2010
In 1990 the City of London, in
partnership with the statutory authorities and street contractors,
launched the very successful Considerate Contractor Streetworks
Scheme (CCSS). The scheme is the first in Britain aimed
specifically at tackling the problems associated with untidy and
unsafe road works and has been developed as a result of the success
of the Considerate Contractor building works scheme.
GKR were awarded the Gold Award for their safe
works at our site at 125 Old Broad Street.
City of London GOLD AWARD 2008
It was with great pride that GKR
Scaffolding were awarded the 2008 Gold Award by the City of
London
Building sites are annually judged on the basis of their overall
performance during that year and on a site visit by a specially
appointed judging panel. GKR had 16 projects ongoing in the city at
the time of winning the award, a real testament to the way in which
they undertake their business.
The gold award plaque was presented by the Lord Mayor, Alderman
John Stuttard to GKR Directors Lee and Neil Rowswell.
Health & Safety Excellence Award 2007
GKR Scaffolding was delighted to
have won the Health and Safety Excellence Award at the ISG
InteriorExterior annual trade contractor awards.
With Health and Safety always at the forefront of every project
GKR undertakes, it is fantastic to have been recognised for this.
Tony Lane, Associate Director for GKR Scaffolding, was
pleased to accept the award on behalf of the company.
ISG Chairman's Award 2006 for Excellence in Health &
Safety
ISG InteriorExterior awarded the
prestigious Chairman's Award to GKR Scaffolding in recognition for
their attention to health, safety and the environment displayed
throughout all of the projects they worked on during 2005-2006.
Director of Health and Safety for ISG InteriorExterior, Vincent
Busk said: "GKR Scaffolding have embraced the culture we are
developing and maintaining within our business which in turn is
affecting our industry. They carry out projects with
diligence, enthusiasm and serious attention to health and safety
and I am delighted that they have been recognised at this year's
awards."
